Project Applications for ACWW Member Societies and non-Member Societies are now open

ACWW invests in women's empowerment through funding small-scale, women-led projects in rural areas. We work with our own grassroots Member Societies around the world, and with local partner organisations, who collaborate with beneficiaries to create and implement projects.

If you are interested in applying for funding and your organisation is an ACWW member, please read the information box on the right.

If you are interested in applying for funding and your organisation is NOT an ACWW member, please read the Guidelines Document and complete the Pre-Application Questionnaire. ACWW will use the information provided to establish the eligibility of the organisation and the suitability of project proposals. If your application is not suitable for ACWW funding, you will be contacted by Central Office.

Shortlisted organisations will be invited to submit a full application and advised of upcoming deadlines and Projects Committee meeting dates.

What you need to know

What type of organisation can apply?

ACWW welcomes applications from small to medium-sized (annual income less than £150,000) NGOs, women’s groups, educational institutions or umbrella organisations in less developed countries. Organisations must have been locally registered for at least 2 years (with suitable registration for receiving foreign donations) and be able to provide all the supporting documents required. Applications from organisations where at least 80% of those in decision-making positions are women will be given priority for funding.

Country Specific Funding Restrictions

Although we understand that there is often the most need in places of conflict or unrest, ACWW has a responsibility to its donors and project recipients to ensure sustainability and good practice. We are therefore guided by the UK Foreign Office on where projects can realistically be monitored safely. We are currently unable to fund in the following countries: Pakistan, Cameroon, Democratic Republic of Congo, Nigeria. This list is not exhaustive, and is kept under review.

When to apply

Non-Member Organisations must submit a Pre-Application Questionnaire first. If you have already submitted an application, this will be processed in due course and you do not need to worry. Please do not contact us for confirmation or to chase your application. Please note that Member Organisations must have been a fully paid-up Member of ACWW for 1 year before submitting an application for project funding.

Types of projects ACWW can support

ACWW supports small-scale development projects aiming to improve the living standards of women and their communities through education, training, and/or small capital investment, implemented by small local women-led organisations.
